Hacienda is great! For all you ignorant people, it's not supposed to be authenthic Mexican food. It's Mexican-American, and everyone knows it going in! The salsa is great and the wet burritos to die for. There is a reason you have to wait to get in most nights...it's THAT good!

Hacienda is good...if you're new to Mexican food. Don't get me wrong, the food is edible. Not great, but not awful. It's just not authentic. At all. When it comes to the atmosphere, the same can be said. Not authentic at all. Their stereotypical 'Mexican' decor and the fact that they make their employees greet you by saying Hola, just comes across as incredibly fake, almost to the point that it's annoying. I'm sure that your typical suburbanite Hacienda patron just eats it up though. So, to sum it up, if you're looking for a Mexican beer or are desperate for some moderately priced Mexican- like food and there are no other places around (which is not the case in South Bend), Hacienda will work. Otherwise, stay away. It is definitely not worth any more than a five minute wait. Places like Mazatlan or La Esperanza are much better.
