Description:

By Lynn Nottage.

One of the most-produced plays in U.S. regional theatres today, winner of five awards for Best Play of 2004. In New York City, in 1905, a shy, hardworking African-American seamstress with a gift for creating exquisite intimate apparel for women from all walks of life has sadly reconciled herself to spinsterhood and life in a boarding house. But she is not without a dream. And on her thirty-fifth birthday, she is surprised by a letter from a stranger who promises to make her happy. A richly detailed drama, embroidered with romance.
